Chatting about topics that interest you or about life events (weekends, trips, weather, friends) is the best way to slowly build a natural vocabulary and good speech patterns. 해외사업의 확대를 위하여 직원의 영어 회화능력을 향상시키자는 회사 방침에 의거하여 전화영어의 수강을  지난 6월부터 시작하였다. 그리하여 아침마다 어김없이 캐나다에서 전화걸려와 아침 7시 30분이면 10분간 영어로 샬라살라 떠든다 교사는 패트리샤라는 토론토에 사는 아가씨인데 친절하게 가르쳐서 영어의 아침이 즐겁기만 하다. 물론 예습을 충실히 하여야 한다 주제에 대하여 교재내용을 충분히 숙지하여야 하고 주어진 질문에 답변을 준비하여야 하기에 전날 저녁에는  영어사전과 씨름을 하는 나의 모습이다. 방학때는 큰 딸 유현이가 도와주어서 예습이 용이했는데 이제는 그 애가 없어 나 홀로 준비하여야 한다 나의 이 콩글리시 영어를 마감하기 위하여 많이 노력해야 하리라  위의 성적표는 지난달의 평가인데 너무 후하게 칭찬을 많이 하여 자못 우쭐해지는 것도 나의 한계일까? 무엇보다도 지난 10년간의 해외생활에도 불구하고 영어에 대하여 항상 부족함을 느껴야 했던 나였다. 영어의 한계성을 탈피하기 위한 늦깍기 노력이 눈물겹지만 나를 자신있게 영어로 표현하려면 어찌하랴....
